Busy day

I had my just shy of 38 week appointment this morning. I have been having contractions and annoying achy cramps, and I lost my mucus plug (too much info?? ) so I figured the dr. would at least check me to see if I am making any progress, but no. She sucks, and I still don't know where I'm at. I was kind of hoping she'd check me because that's what sent me into labor both other times, but I guess I just have to wait it out. Today was the last day I have to see her though, and next week I have an appointment with the dr. that will be there when I deliver. I hope he is more competent.

Then this afternoon, I had to go to the CHEP school and turn in all the school work we've done so far. Nic is doing great. I am so happy we are homeschooling. He did go to his first kindergarten camp class last week. It was just over an hour long, and there were about 20 kids altogether. The only feedback I got from the teacher was that he is easily distractable, but they were able to get him focused again without too much work, and that he was the teachers special helper. That makes me happy, because I was afraid that he'd be how he was, and instead of the teacher paying extra attention to him, he'd just be brushed aside. So I am really happy with how this whole thing is going.
The next class is on Oct 20th, from 9:30 until noon. And I would imagine by then, I will have definitely had Nolan. yay! I can't wait! lol

We also decided that lizards are shitty pets. They are like fish. They are high maintenance, and you can't really play with them. So we let them go in the same yard we found them in, and bought a new rat. He is so cute. He has a little mohawk! He is completely white, except for the mask on his face. His name is Mortimer, Mortie for short.

37 weeks

Gunther, the rat, has died. He was really sick for about a week, and the past 2 days he was basically paralyzed from the middle down. He would crawl, and couldn't move his back legs or his tail. We woke up this morning, and he was stiff as a board. Nic didn't seem to care, and Norah cried for about a minute, and then wanted to help Devin dig a hole in the backyard to bury him. They haven't mentioned it since. I guess they weren't too attached. ha

Devin has been recruited by my dad to join his light show. He has asked him if he wanted to help in the past, and Devin would always say yes, and that's as far as it went. This time, they're actually working together! Devin is learning the digital program, and my dad is doing the liquid. They have a show this Thursday, and it should be interesting to see how it turns out.

These last few weeks are soooooooooo looooonnnnngg. I think it's because I've been having alot of BH contractions, so every time I get one, I am reminded that I'm having a baby soon. I can't help but think "is this it??" even though I know it's not. UGH annoying. Especially when they come in a pattern, and then just randomly stop. I have one more appointment with my doctor, next Friday, and then after that I start going every week and will be seeing the doctor that is actually delivering the baby. I hope he doesn't suck as bad as the lady I've been seeing this whole time. And I hope that I won't have to go at all for too much longer.

I'm such a horrible writer.

musical cars

The insurance company of the guy that hit my car claimed liability finally! A claims adjuster came out this morning to see the damage, and he decided to have the car towed and to give us a check for about $4500, which is awesome, because I only paid $4000 for the car in the first place! He said that they would come to tow it away in about 3 days, but they came just a couple hours later, and now it's gone. The kids were excited to see the tow truck, and sad to see the car go. As was I, because that car was extremely reliable, and I could fill the whole tank for about $20, even being in California. It was going to be Devin's school car too. But my grandma has decided to get a new car now, so her old one will go to Devin.


Anyway, RIP car.

Pre-occupied.

All I can think about is having this baby. My back hurts like crazy. You know when you hold a baby for a while, and your back starts to hurt so you switch sides? Well, it's like that, only I can't switch sides. It just keeps hurting more and more. Nolan is not helping, because he is always laying on the same side, kicking me in the same spot on my ribs. I could not fall asleep last night, between the kicks and the insanely itchy skin I've got going on. Not to mention not being able to find a spot where my back muscles didn't feel like they were going to rip apart.
And then Devin wonders why I was in such a bad mood this morning.

Of course none of this pain and exhaustion could compete with my nesting needs. I went out and washed both cars this morning, sorted all the laundry (I didn't actually get to wash it, because someone else has been using the machine all day), and I am fighting the urge to go out to the garage and put together the swing. The only reason I'm not doing that is because I don't know where I am going to put it yet, and I am sure that one of the kids will break it somehow before I even get to use it.

36 weeks already!


These were from yesterday. We went to Disneyland, because it wasn't sunny for once, and I felt like walking.

35.5 weeks

I had another dr. appointment today. My weight hasn't changed at all since last time. I was also surprised (and at the time, elated) to hear that the GBS test was NEGATIVE! No antibiotics during labor for once!! But, the more I thought about it, the more I don't trust my doctor. She did the test at 33 weeks, when she should have done it between 35 and 37 weeks. That doesn't seem like a big difference, but after doing some research, I've learned that false negatives are common before 35 weeks. But at the same time, I found that even without antibiotics, the chances of the baby getting it are 1 in 200, and the chances of it being a serious infection are 2% of those babies.
So that, combined with the fact that they still took Nic from me for a week "just in case" he got it, when we now know that he never had it, I am not going to ask for a re-test. I know the symptoms of the infection, so if I notice anything, then I'll say something. But I am excited that no one is going to try to kidnap my baby to the NICU "just in case" this time, just to cover the hospital's ass. They also tried this with Norah, because she didn't want to nurse right away, and I actually dumped 1/2 a bottle of formula down the drain when the nurse left the room so they'd leave us alone. And guess what? SHE'S FINE.
This also means that I won't have to be so anxious to get to the hospital once labor actually starts. I can actually labor at home! Which is definitely where I want to be, because once I get to the hospital, they will strap me to a bed and not allow walking. Hopefully, if everything goes my way, I'll walk in, push the baby out, and come home. ha

On the way home from the doctor, I stopped at the hospital to turn in the pre-registration form. Pretty uneventful, but now I feel like I am ready for this baby. 3 days until I'm officially full term, and about a month until my due date. I have been having contractions 7-10 minutes apart for the past 2 nights, but after about an hour and a 1/2, they just stop. Frustrating, but hopefully it means that Nolan will be here sooner than Oct 12!

Good things! Finally!

I got a new car!! Ok, it's not really new, but it is to me. Isn't it pretty?




It is everything I could have dreamed of. haha It has so many little buttons and compartments, I'm still finding new ones.


We are still waiting for the insurance companies to pay for the old car. They did finally come out and take pictures of it, and officially totalled it. Now we are waiting for money, and for them to tow it away. But I can't be without a car any longer, so we went ahead and got the van, which we needed anyway, since a 3rd baby would have never fit in the old car.
