Dr. appointment

My doctor is on vacation! So I had to see Dog the bounty hunter again, but at least she knows my history, so it was ok. I told her about the whole hospital ordeal, and the issue with my heart. After writing it all down in my chart, she checked the baby's heart rate. As soon as she put the doppler on, I said, "wow that sounds really fast" and she said, "yeah, it is. It's about 179." So of course I started worrying again. She waited a couple minutes, and checked it again, and it was down to 153. Normal is 130-150. She didn't seem too concerned about it, but she did say that if I feel him moving more than normal, to go straight to the hospital. Which is nearly impossible for me to judge, because he moves like crazy all the time!
So I am just left to worry about it I guess. Also, I have been having contractions since being in the hospital, but they still aren't doing anything, because she checked me yesterday, and I was still a 3! They don't feel like BH, they feel like real contractions, so it's really annoying. The only thing I can do is walk, and hope they start coming in some pattern. I think I might go to the mall later just so I can walk around.
Also, I lost another pound since last week, even though I ate a bunch of ribs and stuff right before my appointment. The nurse asked me if I just don't eat good, and I'm like, "Uh, I just stuffed my face right before I came." It was my brother's birthday yesterday, so we had a big meal in celebration. Anyway, I am sooooo ready to have this baby. I am worried about his little heart, and I know I won't stop worrying until he's out. Go into labor already!!!! Ugh.

These were from yesterday.

Stupid night at L&D

Starting Tuesday night, actually really early Wednesday morning, I woke up to pee, and my heart started fluttering. I just ignored it, but throughout the whole day yesterday, it kept doing it every couple seconds. By about 5:00 at night, Devin finally convinced me to call my doctor, who in turn, told me to go to L&D so they could monitor the baby.
So, I forced myself to go. I really didn't want to, but everyone was pressuring me to. We got there at 6:30, and the hooked me up to the fetal monitors, and checked my cervix. I was 1 centimeter dilated, no big deal. So the nurse left the room, and we just hung out for a while, watching the monitors. Nolan's heartrate was high, around 180, and the whole time I was there, I was having contractions 3-5 minutes apart, not really painful, but they were showing up pretty good on the monitor. So after an hour and a 1/2 of that, they came back in, and checked me again, and I was 3 centimeters. They were keeping me.
Devin and I were both shocked, and it just felt like everything was happening so fast. I went there for my heart, and now they were telling me that I was having a baby!

Devin went home to get the bag I had packed, and to put the kids to bed. I stayed and got poked by the world's worst IV giver. She went completely through my vein, so I have a nice bruise and a lump of saline under my skin. Fun fun. She tried it again, and got it on the second try. She was going to start the pitocin right away, and I told her I didn't want it, so she let me labor on my own for an hour, and then came back in and hooked the pitocin up anyway. So throughout the night, I was having one contraction after another, all while trying to sleep because I figured I'd need my energy soon. Around 4:00 in the morning, the nurse came in to check me again, and I was still a 3. Nothing was happening. And actually, while I fell asleep for an hour or so, my contractions completely stopped, even with the pitocin. The nurse started making comments about breaking my water to get things going. I told her no way, because I knew if I did that, I'd be on the hospitals timeline, and if Nolan didn't want to come within that time frame, I'd have a c-section. No thank you!

So I got up and paced from the door to the bed (hospital policy is no walking in the halls. Isn't that helpful?) and got the contractions going again. After a couple hours of that, thinking that I was getting somewhere, they checked me again, and I was still a 3.

So, they took me off of the pitocin, and let me labor on my own, until 7:30 this morning, when they finally decided to send me home. I couldn't be happier. Nothing felt right about the whole thing, and I felt like I was being trapped into an induction. Nolan is not ready to come out, don't force him! I am anxious to see him, but I don't want to rush things and end up with a c section. I am very relived to be home. And also exhausted.

Lame.

Random stuff.

So, there must be more hoop jumping before the One Stop will give Devin the rest of the money for school. He has to go to 4 workshops, and take another skills test, and then finally, he can start school! He signed up for the earliest classes he could, and should be completely done with all of them by Oct 13th. We have our fingers crossed that he'll start school Oct 22nd.
Of course, I'm still pregnant, so at some point in the next couple weeks, he might have to miss a class to be at the hospital with me. Hopefully Nolan will decide to come on a weekend, and not interfere. Or hell, today would be nice, as I can't possibly get any bigger.

Yesterday, I wanted to try to get things started, so we went to Disneyland so I could walk around, and go on as many bumpy rides as possible. But no, it didn't work. I lost energy after a couple hours, and we decided to take the train back to the entrance. Well, when Devin and I are in public places, and we spot someone that resembles someone famous, we'll just blurt out the name, and then it's up to the other person to find him. When we were on the train, this guy got up to get off, and I just glanced at him, and immediately said "Weird Al" and Devin looked around, and said, "That really is Weird Al!" haha
It was random. And what makes it even more strange, is that before we left the house, Nic kept asking to hear "the song called I'm Fat" so we had the song stuck in our heads on the way there. That is about all the excitement that's been going on around here lately. lol

Busy day

I had my just shy of 38 week appointment this morning. I have been having contractions and annoying achy cramps, and I lost my mucus plug (too much info?? ) so I figured the dr. would at least check me to see if I am making any progress, but no. She sucks, and I still don't know where I'm at. I was kind of hoping she'd check me because that's what sent me into labor both other times, but I guess I just have to wait it out. Today was the last day I have to see her though, and next week I have an appointment with the dr. that will be there when I deliver. I hope he is more competent.

Then this afternoon, I had to go to the CHEP school and turn in all the school work we've done so far. Nic is doing great. I am so happy we are homeschooling. He did go to his first kindergarten camp class last week. It was just over an hour long, and there were about 20 kids altogether. The only feedback I got from the teacher was that he is easily distractable, but they were able to get him focused again without too much work, and that he was the teachers special helper. That makes me happy, because I was afraid that he'd be how he was, and instead of the teacher paying extra attention to him, he'd just be brushed aside. So I am really happy with how this whole thing is going.
The next class is on Oct 20th, from 9:30 until noon. And I would imagine by then, I will have definitely had Nolan. yay! I can't wait! lol

We also decided that lizards are shitty pets. They are like fish. They are high maintenance, and you can't really play with them. So we let them go in the same yard we found them in, and bought a new rat. He is so cute. He has a little mohawk! He is completely white, except for the mask on his face. His name is Mortimer, Mortie for short.

randomness

Gunther, the rat, has died. He was really sick for about a week, and the past 2 days he was basically paralyzed from the middle down. He would crawl, and couldn't move his back legs or his tail. We woke up this morning, and he was stiff as a board. Nic didn't seem to care, and Norah cried for about a minute, and then wanted to help Devin dig a hole in the backyard to bury him. They haven't mentioned it since. I guess they weren't too attached. ha

Devin has been recruited by my dad to join his light show. He has asked him if he wanted to help in the past, and Devin would always say yes, and that's as far as it went. This time, they're actually working together! Devin is learning the digital program, and my dad is doing the liquid. They have a show this Thursday, and it should be interesting to see how it turns out.

These last few weeks are soooooooooo looooonnnnngg. I think it's because I've been having alot of BH contractions, so every time I get one, I am reminded that I'm having a baby soon. I can't help but think "is this it??" even though I know it's not. UGH annoying. Especially when they come in a pattern, and then just randomly stop. I have one more appointment with my doctor, next Friday, and then after that I start going every week and will be seeing the doctor that is actually delivering the baby. I hope he doesn't suck as bad as the lady I've been seeing this whole time. And I hope that I won't have to go at all for too much longer.

I'm such a horrible writer.

musical cars

The insurance company of the guy that hit my car claimed liability finally! A claims adjuster came out this morning to see the damage, and he decided to have the car towed and to give us a check for about $4500, which is awesome, because I only paid $4000 for the car in the first place! He said that they would come to tow it away in about 3 days, but they came just a couple hours later, and now it's gone. The kids were excited to see the tow truck, and sad to see the car go. As was I, because that car was extremely reliable, and I could fill the whole tank for about $20, even being in California. It was going to be Devin's school car too. But my grandma has decided to get a new car now, so her old one will go to Devin.

Anyway, RIP car.
